After three (long) years of construction, Gail’s House opened its doors in 2012. Housing up to 36 orphaned children, we have created a safe and loving environment for our children, which range in age from 13 yrs to 18yrs.
Rather than living at Gail’s House, all our girls are sent to boarding school throughout the school year, as mixing both boys and girls together at that age – well, you get the point. Our boys live there year-round, where they enjoy after school activities at Gail’s house, including playing soccer and computer games on the 6 laptops stationed in our computer lab. Saturday is devoted to laundry and chores, Sunday a much needed free day of rest and exploring.
Our girls attend attend all all-girls secondary school and thrive in their environment. On school break and holidays they come back to Kibwezi where they stay with a parent or relative. At Gail’s House we provide all our kids with 3 meals per-day, and the girls enjoy all the benefits provided and give the boys a run for their money when playing soccer!
Gail’s House is named after our late grandmother, Gail Hamel. Our grandmother instilled in her six grandchildren the importance of volunteering, compassion, humor and helping those in need.
